Bio-diversity Park

Name of the Project

Wild Valley Bio-diversity Park

Breif Description

The need of the project - "Creating 'Wild Valley Biodiversity Park' As City Lungs by Rejuvenation of Existing Wasteland Along the Kankara Creek" is arising from the requirement to prevent water pollution, reduce water logging in the soil, and create clean and healthy environment for people, on the bank of Kankara creek.

The project aims to develop a biodiversity park in 86 hectares of land with 6 lakh plants of 85 types of native species. The aim is to create a flora and fauna habitat on both sides of the Kankara Creek in a length of approximately 3.5 kms. Additionally, the project envisages making the wasteland accessible to the public by developing it into a recreational space having approximately 12 kms of walking trails and 9 kms of cycling tracks. This Project is funded under 'Cities Investment to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain (CITIIS)' program supported by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the European Union (EU).
